Wow! I thought putting a blanket on my Cd player, and a teddy bear next to it made a big difference. I should defintly try this! I think I'll fill the pillow with bull sh*t though, its softness will absorb more vibrations, right?

This may be a stretch, but I'm guessing it doesn't sound as good under your amplifiers because the sound of the fire riddled, crackling circuits raises the noise floor too much.
