Does the right speaker sound weaker if you physically switch the speakers? That is, have you verified it isn't the speaker on the right?

Is the quality of the sound the same for both speakers? Woofers start to fail in older speakers. When they do the do play quieter, but the sound is also rather dead.

Have you tried reversing the cables from your CD player to see if the weak sound then ends up in the left speaker?

Thanks Elk.

Here's what I've done so far:

1. Physically switched the speakers.
2. Switched cables connected to the amplifier to the speakers.
3. Switched cables on the CD player connecting to the amplifier.

Still, my right (now left speaker after switching them physically) speaker is the one with less audio output.

After you mentioning woofer problems on older speakers, I finally got to compare the lack of the low frequency on my right speakers from my left speakers. I think you nailed it, might actually be a woofer problem.

If that's the case, is this still repairable? What would be another alternative buy to replace my Monitor 14 speakers? I'm thinking of the newer model Monitor Audio speakers or Epos. By the way, what do you think of my Monitor Audio - Monitor 14 speakers?

Greatly appreciate your help. Thank you very much.

There are companies that offer speaker driver rebuilding services - a little on-line searching should help here. There may be good alternate woofer drivers that you can buy and use to replace the woofers in your current speakers (I would rebuild or replace so that they match). I don't know your speakers specifically and don't have any other information that would help - sorry.

Good luck!
