The inmates at Audio Asylum would probably be able to help you out.
Wow, that's tough.
The suggestion of checking with the inmates is a good one - there is a lot of helpful people with useful info there.
Good luck!
Yeah, I should have left it alone, but thats just not as fun. On the Vintage Asylum forum I was told to check the "relay contact on the speaker protection circuit" so hopefully thats the problem. Ill take a look at it tomorrow.
Of course it isn't!
Let us know what you find out when you further check it out.
This is beyond stupidity. You took the cover off a warranty item and started dicking around with it? Now it is just a lump of shit. Nice job, Mr. Audiophile. Go over to the Asylum and stop making stupid confessions over here. There is nothing further to check out. The Audiophile burned up his own system. Here, hold this spark plug lead while I crank the engine.
Will you be recomending that killer tweak for all Marantzs or just that model!!! Finally someone has an AUDIBLE TWEAK!!! I say this guy is on to something! Your new name is Puffy the Tweaker!!!!!
This is a good lesson kids... Don't bathe in gasoline and then play with matches.
Only you can prevent forest fires.
Guys...guys....
Tough weekend for you three?
The Marantz 2270 is definitely not in warranty. It was made in the early 1970's. It wasn't unreasonable to try and adjust it back to spec. The poor guy made a mistake. It happens.
I don't have the technical knowledge for this unit to help him. Anyone here able to provide him with useful information that will help him fix his receiver?
Why would you say that? I had a decent enough weekend. I just have a sense of humor about these kinds of things. Perhaps it doesn't come across as humor when it is taken in the context of the previous two posts, and not as its own statement...
Fair enough, Jeff. On it's own your comment would have been fun. And a sense of humor when things go wrong is a good trait.
Lamont, when I was 16 years old my father tried to prevent me driving my car by removing the short wire that connects the distributer cap to the coil. I saw what he had done so I found a thick heave piece of bare copper wire and stuck one end into the distributer and the other into the coil and I was good to go. When I got back home I opened the hood and, with the car running,GRABBED THE BARE WIRE!!!!! Next thing I remembered I was sitting on my ass in the garage seeing stars. I must have been knocked unconcious for at least a few minutes. The palm of my hand had a serious burn on it.
