Yeah, I learned that lesson restoring cars. Well, I apparently didn't fully learn the lesson 'cause I had to relearn it restoring an old house.

Monty,

Shouldn't he have expected better support and info from VPI? I would sure think so. I was considering a Scout JR if and when I upgraded. Now...? Maybe that Marantz package looks better all the time.

VPI 'instructions' are missing on more than platter upgrades. I tried to replace the stock feet on my original VPI Aries only to find that package shipped with no instructions though the dealer prompted me to add special adaptors for fitting these to the original Aries. Even then, this was not a screw-out the old, screw in the new, as advertised. After much back and forth between VPI, the dealer and I, it transpires that for the original, you have to completely remove the old footer support bolts which are connected to an internal bushing, which can easily be destroyed in the process, and then the new adaptors have to be tapped into the empty space to receive the new feet. It took almost two weeks of back and forth to get this cleared up and the dealer still sells these as easy replacements for all Aries models. They are not. Some love the challenge, some want simple replacements. But we all expect clear instructions to come with the parts. For the record, I sent mine back as I did not want to damage the stock parts which proved necessary if I wanted to actually budge the stock footer structure.
