Hola, Stephen!
You know, you really can't hear anything on those discs unless you buy AVA electronics and Legacy speakers...and 100K turntables and 43K CD players are an outrage...
But, be that as it may, I'm looking forward to John Prine and Mac Wiseman's upcoming album (April 24th), "Standard Songs for Average People."
I'm a near lifelong John Prine fan, so his offerings are always on my hot list.
He pisses me off, though.
On his tour, he'll be stopping in Ogden, Utah; Billings, Butte, and Missoula, Montana; Jackson Hole, Wyoming; Jackson, Mississipi; and Mobile, Alabama, but not Las Vegas.
Just goes to show what a vast cultural wasteland our city really is.
Cheers!
Cool! I didn't know he had a new album coming out. I'm a pretty big Prine fan, myself. With his depth of lyrical and musical talent, it's a wonder he never achieved the fame of some of his contemporaries. Speaking of under-appreciated geniuses, don't miss "Preludes", a CD featuring some rare and previously unreleased cuts from the great Warren Zevon, to be released May 1.
We lucked out with an advance copy of Preludes here in the office. It went from Elizabeth's computer to mine, and I haven't given it back.
Oh man, I'm also really excited about the new Feist album. The single, available on her site, is pretty good. And she's all about hi-fidelity, too.
Side-note: Buddha, have you read "Man Walks into a Room" by Nicole Krauss? In it, she kinda uses Las Vegas as a metaphor for complete memory loss, blank space, the time before meaning.
