Do you want internal or external isolation? External, to fit under the chassis, has more than enough choices, each with their own story and number of proponents. Internal will be limited by the amount of room you have inside the case.

Hello,

i was thinking of internal damping to increase the stability of the transport and decrease reading errors etc.
Considering the space, what you see (on the picture) is what you get
thanks for the refinement of my question,
Bram

Yes, what I see is what I get. There's not much more to be done internally as far as I can see. You can try some Sorbothane pads or some Mortite, but beyond that, I don't see where else you can make a difference. Unfortunately, the photo doesn't allow me to make much more in the way of suggestions.

Dear Jan,

since i'm not an expert myself I overestimated the value of my picture
What kind of information do you need to make a proper judgement?
thanks for the help,
Bram

Before i replaced my VM1201 CDM drive with a new one, it would randonly skip, on an older Philips CDC936...With a new laser assy from Parts Express for like $30 or less, it's now shock proof, never skips on it's own or when struck...I bet teh trouble with my old was one just lube was dried out on teh samll nylon gears driving it, so it couldn't repspond fast enough to track...it's like new now. I see teh replacement had a different type lube in it. I have teh service manual for teh 939, otherwise woulda' been a nightmare to find the hidden clips etc, with manual a breeze, I eve got a few spare drives for my otehr older Philips units, since they will probably become un available new later on, the stuff is getting obsoleted, CD only drives. Nutin to it. I jsut use em as drives feeding differetn DAC's. They work grooovey. www.partwexpress.com drives galore for now
