Yes but i doubt you'll find this particular copy.I have it on cd.Don't know if it was out on lp or any other format.
ARCHIV PRODUKTION (Polydor) germany 410 525-2 The English Concert-trevor Pinnock .Same orchestra/conductor btw,has the
best Vivali-The Four Seasons i have ever heard.
I have that same CD, Yiangos, and it is my favorite version too (liner notes in English, German, French and Italian). I bought it a long time ago and, like you, doubted that it would still be available. A quick check of Amazon.com showed that it is, in both the CD and (get this) cassette formats. About the same vintage (1990) is another Handel CD that I play a lot, a collection of Trio Sonatas by the English Concert with Trevor Pinnock - another Achiv production. Didn't check that one for availability, but I do recommend it.
Regarding the Vivaldi, have you heard the DG CD of the Israel Philharmonic under Mehta featuring Stern, Zuckerman, Mintz and Perlman? I'll stack that one against all comers.
I think that Arkiv Music has the recording of the Water Music you are discussing: http://www.arkivmusic.com/classical/album.jsp?album_id=59145
A lot of these older Archiv recordings are being reissued!
Thanks Clay. No,didn't hear that cd (Mehta/Vivaldi) but i have another one that i like.A sacd with Ozawa. The sonics are miles better than the Archiv version and the music, although Pinnock's is still the best to my ears,i'd rate it second best to that.
Elk,if you or anyone else is fan of Baroque music and especially Handel, check on the same label/conductor etc Handel's Music for the Royal Fireworks.
