I recently changed the laser assembly for the exact same issue skipping on my 10+ year old Philips 936 changer. No more skips now with a new assy.. Laser assy was from www.mcminone.com Like $20 or something for the laser assy. Simple. But without the service repair manual, taking the player apart can maybe be difficult, as the service manual with exploded diagrams show you where the hidden clips and screws are, and which ones need to be removed to access things. It was easy with the manual. I have several players so the service manuals paid for themselves in one repair. Now the player should be good for another 10 years. VM1202 VDM 1201 CDM are similar assys, just read the one in your unit, and swap it. But try and get the service mnanual, makes it simple. Laser assys are CHEAP when bought at the right places. Pretty slick how the players and stuff just snap together and it just works.
Hello Dup,
