I have heard that the higher sound quality has something to do with the ability to spin 12" Laserdiscs. I think I'll see if I can find one around here. They should be quite cheap.

Long time no see.Be careful though.Check well what you purchase.If something goes wrong,i doubt there would be spare parts for a ld player.

Actually, Theta Digital was hip to this back in the early 90s when they came out with the Theta Data LD-based transport. They pointed out that LD transports had so much more torque that playing a CD was like shipping a postage stamp in a freight truck. They also did a lot of electrical de-jittering of various kinds.
