It was a pretty positive review, Mike, but then Sam usually likes the stuff Roy Hall brings to market - and for good reason. My experience with MusicHall stuff is that it comes out ahead of the competition at its price point. Good music, good value.

Yiangos; found it. Thanks.

Cheapskate, I was able to hear the 25.2 amp and CD player...Sam's review of these items was on the mark. I'd still like to hear a piece of equipment (Maven) before buying. Folks at some other forums agreed that the Music Hall sound is top notch but a couple posters said there is a reliability issue and that getting service is difficult.??? The audio shop I deal with have carried Music Hall gear for years with never a problem. Go figure.

Go Figure is right! Unfortunately, I can't speak to the issue of hard to get service. Never needed any - at least not yet. Did have a question about a TT speed controller once and got an response to my e-mail from Roy Hall. He does seem interested in keeping customers happy. Didn't share any Scotch with me, though.

Back in the summer, after hearing the 25.2 amp & cd player I did some research and all the reviews were most positive...especially on the CD25.2. So I bought the whole line.

Now I have a larger room and need something with more output, etc. That's why I started checking out the Maven. I got just a couple of negative responses but, hey, there's always one sour grape in the bunch. So, I contacted Walt, at Underwood HiFi. Walt informed me that they don't do mods on anything they don't think is reliable, quality items to begin with. (Underwood does mods on any Music Hall gear, that they can.) My initial thoughts on Music Hall stands firm.

Now the next decision...should I get the Maven or the Mambo?

I like hearing reports of manufacturers interested in keeping their customers happy. I guess it's only natural that disapointed customers vent on the internet, but I think it important that our niche community post our positive experiences as well.

I recently had such an experience with the owner of JPS Labs. No need to go in to detail, suffice it to say that Joe made sure whether I was or was not going to be a user of their products, I was going to walk away from my experience with JPS Labs as a very satisfied customer.

As Cheapskate said, Roy is interested in his customers. I had e-mailed him several times and he always responded with helpful info.

You are right, RG, we do need to share our "positive experiences". How else would we know what gear is worth the investment?

Hey I've been looking at the Maven for a while, and I just notived that the online prices have dropped from $1,495 to $995 or so. Does any know if there's something going on?

I was wondering the same thing, myself. Beings I was interested in buying one I didn't want to get something that has discontinued production. The Music Hall distributer that I deal with informed me that the price was reduced in order to attract a more buyers. He assured me that there was no intention to stop production. I also spoke with a couple guys who do modification on audiophile equipment (both of whom do mods on MH). They, too, informed me that production will continue.
