I don't think Dup would approve of his cable construction techniques. They scare even me.

I like reading his catalogues (and I like his return policy) but I do so with a very squinted eye. He seems to have just enough BS in the marketing hype to keep me from buying what he is selling...other than the music.

Don't knock it 'til you try it. I happen to own a pair of double-helix speaker cables. All I can tell you is that they're exceptional, specially in the treble. You can always return the item and get your money back.

I was referring more to his power cables. Those things would make any sane person nervous. I've not heard any of his cables and so i'm not knocking the way any of his stuff sounds. His speaker cables seems to be based on Kimber's tribraid type of shielding and with very little dielectric are interesting. The design reminds me of Kimber's PBJ and 8TC stuff, which I do like.

Those cords, though...scary.

So, Silvertone, you really like the speaker cables. What cables did they replace? It is the speaker cables that have me curious. After the usual amount of experimentation with interconnects, I'm happy with what I have there - Kimber Heros on the digital and Kimber Silver Streak out of the phono pre. The thin dialectric and helix wind works well for interconnects and so......

Guess I'm as vulnerable as the next one to those "cons" we've heard so much about recently.

Yeah, that power cord stuff looks mighty BIZZARE. i have some of teh CD's, I am underwhelmed. Never again, fool me once shame on you, there is no twice for this guy, I do have a fast learning curve. I'm sure those wires are more magic than we know, thin is the secret, Ohhh I see, but Ps and others say THICK is wher it's at. yupper, now we know these guys are just all doing it right, and you need a really resolving system, and an open mind and an open wallet too....Ain't understanding teh engineering, please teach me, how coes poorly insulated AC line cords that have no UL listing, and really don't appear thick enough to handle 15 A ckts, make things "sound" better. What magic is in this clear saran wrap? Is it cryo treated, now that matters. Is it de magnetized, is it using the "golden" something or other, does it have zen, with zing and has it be heated and frozen, so many methods, so much "science", so many breakthroughs, so many rubes to get money from, of coruse, keep an open mind. Riiiight. I never tasted dog crap, but I would presume it to not be very good, I ain't trying it before pssing judgement.

About 10 years ago, I auditioned Mapleshade's wafer thin foil interconnects with battery bias at my friend's place. The gear was pretty top flight at the time (Krell, Sonic Frontiers, Cello, Meridian, and Genesis.) The sound was light, delicate, and airy, but, almost sounded like it had phase issues -- kind of unfocused. I didn't really care for it that much. The sound was distinct in that you could easily pick it out in a DBT. I have no idea what the current iteration sounds like. They still seem too fragile, and impractical for real world use.
