Yeah, surprisingly apparant, what differences, beside the insane prices...and unuseable due to it's poor bulk and no flex. When any design calls for a 6ga cord on a device that is fused for less than 2A.....the original music is made with pro grade cords that work then when you reproduce it at home you need magic cords to make it sound better..why didn't they need magic wire in teh first stage of teh recording, you only need it when you reproduce it, why is that?

Ok, so I have problems with RF interference, especially between my phono-pre and my turn table, the details of which have been chronicled in other threads on these forums.

Thus far, to remedy the situation I have taken the following actions.

1. Moved away from the radio tower (I'll let you believe its cause im such a dedicated audio bad-ass)

2. Moved my turntable and pre amp away from all other electronics, especially the integrated amp.

3. Wall mounted my Turntable (ok so thats not really RF related, but hopefully will prevent my new apartments hard wood floors from becoming problematic)

Given these changes, I now need to connect all these things together. To the best of my knowledge longer interconnects are preferable to longer speaker cables performance wise. so I'm in the market for some 15' length of interconnect that will run from the wall mount to integrated amp.

I was looking for cables in the 75$ price range and the Esoteric's on the partsexpress site seem to fit the bill.

Does anyone have any thougths or opinions on a other choices, or the wisdom of this one?

Thanks

I took a quick peek at their site:

http://esotericaudio.com/product/audio/compare.htm

With every line of interconnects besides the A4 series, they make a point of the material used in their dielectric insulation (either polyethylene or Teflon) and its phase integrity, which leads me to believe the A4 series might use something of lesser quality, with phase issues like PVC. I have rarely heard an analogue interconnect with a PVC sheath that didn't sound smeared. E-mail them and ask what the A4 uses.

Windzilla-

About 6 years ago I tried the Esoteric A1 cables and hated them. Now granted they weren't the same as the ones that you are considering. I found them to make the music muffled, slow, and lifeless sounding. I

And I'm sure they wheren't contacted and had financial incentives to "endorse" the nonsense. Should the wire be oval, round, square, triangle, so many methods, so many breakthroughs, so much BS. Didn't AQ make the final breakthrough at 72V or Tara with it's "vacuum", but just how are they maintaining the vac without continuous pumping? Look at all the nice ads, you tell me which one is the breakthrough? Which insulation which shape, so much BS, so many breakthroguhs. AQ changes the colors and names every otehr month with a new break through. They have more names for dumb wire, with new colors, each one the next break through. BS in all shades of what ever you want. Who did it rigth Kimber, AQ, Monster, Vampire,Shunyata,Harmonix, and on and on and on.

Good one bjh. Now there is a post that seems accurate.

So I guess we lump all ICs and cables together and light a bonfire, cause they are all fakes? And I guess the manufacturers have been bought off as well.

(sarcasm begins)Well I guess that we have to indite the speaker manufacturers on the same charge, original thinking. How dare they have original thoughts! Electrostats, dynamic drivers, horns, ribbons. It's all a scam. All the speaker technologies sound the same. It's a disservice to the public I tell ya. The FTC should get involved.(sarcasm ends)

Paid endorsement is not a new thing, it's done in all industrys. But of course Audio is always somehow different. Do some research into why they have the brand they have, dig into the real reason, I'm sure it's not because of course they checked them all and these where the ones that really mattered. Doesn't Kimber make teh ones that defy reality, no, Cardas does, No Siltech, and so many others, AQ Monster, all trying for teh same dollar out of teh hands of teh one who can hear the wire. I'm sure all the sports dudes that get their name linked to some drink or car, is becaue it's the one that really made a difference.

Simple, find the brand that sounds the most accurate in your system.

If yours sounds the best with cheap garbage wire, then use it. Is that so hard?

Cheap garbage....cus' it don't have "audiophile" nonsense attached to it, through full page color ads, explaining some mumbo jumbo about special twists and turns.. Mortal prices not cheaply made, there is a difference between paying a price that is rational, and getting a quality product, rather than paying extreme prices for made up nonsense, and imaginary science. If you didn't have the full page color ads in your sub consious, you wouldn't hear any difference in a piece of wire. Oval, square, air,PTFE, many twists, thick, thin, so many companies, so many lines of BS.

What kind of parasite is that attached to the cable? Oh, I see now...it's a ground wire that gets attached to the ground terminal of the amp. Why don't they use a 3 pin mic jack? It would look neater and more professional. What effect will this have on the phono ground? Can the ground terminal be overloaded? It's all mute, anyway, if the electrical system in the house isn't properly grounded.
What next, drive solid gold lightning rod into the earth to be sure we have a proper ground connection.

When did it become industry standard to use 75 Ohm BNC termination on audio equipment?

A lot of my stuff has BNC and Nuetrik XLR Benchmark has BNC, Tascam has BNC Don't remember if my HHB does..BNC makes for a nice secure setup. Well so does Nuetrik XLR. So do Nuetrik Speakon used in all teh live events I've seen lately, they lock in place, no falling out, BNC comes in many types TNC 75, 50 etc High Voltagae BNC each has a purpaose, not magic, but a desinged reality based design function.
