BobB-

Didn't you mean to add a smiley to your concluding statement? I would have.

Good Grief, that list is absolutely unbelieveable! Given that the unit sales for the #1 seller had to be fewer than 100 copies, classical music appears to be just plain dead in your town. Move! Sell out and get out quick, and pack your recordings very carefully.

Since we all started out in diapers...and may end up in them this list is really scaring me. Can this come full circle? I can just see my children getting even with me in the end and proping me up in front of the tele and put Baby Einstein in on repeat. Maybe this will ONLY happen in PA.

That is hilarious!

Time to start with the Great Grandpa Einstein series?

We could get rich!

Have you also heard about the new classical lines that have the tempo set to try and match a resting heart rate and have eliminated the crescendos?

It's supposed to act as a soporific.

I am optimistic about the future of classical music, though.

I think the iPod generation will start discovering it. I really do.

With all this variety we have access to, it can only help people start finding this great music.

Wouldn't it be great to an iPod commercial with someone in silhouette air conducting to a great dynamic piece of classical?

I KNOW it would work.

The reason you see these titles on the list is the same reason Toy Story, Lion King, The Little Mermaid and all the other children's movies are box office hits. We parents of crumb crunchers will spend big money and endure great pains to entertain the little ones.

When my daughter was an infant, I could put her to sleep inside of 5 minutes by playing the soundtrack to City of Angels. Well, at least the Gabriel Yared stuff anyway. I would have been willing to spend any amount of money on any kind of music to do that.

Now that she is in school, pre-k, they play classical or acoustic music during nap time.

As an aside, it thrills me to no end that my daughter's favorite music is blues. She loves Albert Collins.

We could manufacture and sell Audiophile "Depends"!!! Imagine, you're listening to that insanely long Kaikhosru Shapurji Sorabji's - Organ Symphony No. 2. You've had a few too many cups of Sanka and Kahlua and you're borderline incontinent...and it's just too damn far to the bathroom (or backyard)! No problemo! You've got a pair of NFS
Audio's "High Resolution/Sound Enforcing Undergarments" on. Relax, let the ol' parasympathetic nerves open the plumbing up and let 'er flow! These babies can hold 2 quarts...and they're biodegradable! Here's a link to show you how they work:

Taking orders now...interested, Clifton?
