Looks like a cool magazine, I got hooked reading all kinds of stuff. Nice. But what are we teaching the CHILDREN, by portraying the lack of RESPECT for VINYL!!! think of the HUMANITY, the LOSS of FIDELITY, the finger grease, the SMUDGES....the future generation of LP spinners are LOST LOST I tell you. Please stop the INSANITY before it becomes an epidemic. When a professional vinyl handler is shown to have such blatant DISREGARD for the life of VINYL, I think there should be a LAW. Vinyl abuse CAN be PREVENTED in our lifetime, before it's too LATE!!!! Let's do it for the next generation..your grandchildren will never have the experience of pristine VINYL, if this practice continues!!!

Relax! Those LPs were trashed. They were brought by the photographer for me to use as props. Had they been in good condition I never would have handled them that way.

The records were trashed but you can't see that in the photos. BTW: it was their idea for me to pull my pants down. I complied....

Hi Mike,

Welcome to the Stereophile forum. I think I can speak for the group when I say that we kinda took it as a given that the records were pretty much thrashed before you ever saw them otherwise you never would have handled them in such a matter. We were just having some fun.

By the way, there's no need for you to post three seperate responses since a single response would be read by all members.

Anyway, I hope that you can find the time to check in with us lunatics over here on the Stereophile forum every so often and give us a bit of your audio and musical insights and wisdom. We will, of course, tear into these pearls of wisdom just as readily as we do everyone else's since there are no sacred cows allowed around here.

Wait I may have spoken, or rather written, too soon, since the one thing that has seemed to draw a consensus around here is that a good listening session can always be made better by ingestion of some form of fermented liquid, preferably aged in oak.

Michael,

We all know, or should know by now, that there is no one on this planet who has done more to preserve and promote vinyl on this planet than YOU! That photo could have easily been a Mel Brooks creation. Look what he did to the 15, er 10 commandments!

We don't care about your pants or what's not under them, only the vinyl.
Of course I know you would never deliberately harm any vinyl.

It was all Jeff's fault he made me say it and DUP helped him.

So, let it be written. So, let it be done.....

There should have been a disclaimer under the photo...NO VINYL WAS HARMED DURING THE FILMING OF THIS EPISODE

Well, personally I think portrayal of Vinyl Abuse is just as bad as the real thing; think of the effect on generations yet unborn when they see that photo, and this will no doubt spawn a whole new genre of Vinyl Abuse Videos aimed at serial vinyl abusers who have so far escaped being sent to prison for their crimes. MMMMpphhhh!!!

This just in. Axl Rose bit a security guard outside a hotel in Sweden. Vinyl abuse aside, if the Germans are going to shoot bears for eating hamsters (they shot a wandering bear yesterday, the first spotted in that country in 170 years --apparently the poor thing pillaged his way across the Tyrol, only to be persecuted by angry farmers), can't the Swedes do likewise to this degenerate savage? Here we are, bantering about Mikey's willingness to paw vinyl and even drop trou, when they're running amok in Europe. Rumsfeld? Cheney? Where are these fools when we need them? I hope all you Guns 'N Roses closet cases out there are satisfied. Cannibalism and bear pogroms...can't we boycott something?

Well, Michael, if you ever run for President, you won't have to worry about answering the "Boxers or Briefs" question that Bob Dole endured!
I'm sure that most of us suffered at least one episode when a parent, grandparent, or other authoritative figure pulled a record off the player like a plate out of the dishwasher! A couple of runs through a Nitty Gritty or VPI cleaner should make 'em as good as new.

Id just like to add my two cents worth. We really appreciate Mikey being such a good guy to work with...
My freind Paulo who shot the cover and accompanying photos usually shoots pretty girls for Vogue and he said Mr. Fremer was a blast to work with and very professional.

Sorry, if we offended anyone thinking the records were good ones. We would never harm any vinyl...

Thanks again for reading and paying attention. Hats off to Stereophile for cooperating with this!
