You could invest a lot of time trying to find something you like more than the CJ. CJ won't blister your ears, soundstages like nobody's business and is priced within the real world most of us live in. You sure as heck don't have to worry about getting your money's worth when you buy it and can resell it in the blink of an eye should your tastes change later down the line. An added bonus is a good deal of pride of ownership with CJ stuff.

You won't catch me trying to talk someone out of going with CJ.

DUP, having Frank's OmegaStar 440EX I know the sound & build quality of his work, awesome to say the least. I am presently listening to the CJ piece for a couple of days now in my system. It sounds absolutely stunning. I already talked to Frank about his pre & he said to let him know if I want one. However my dealer is giving me a incredible deal on the CJ piece. It is a savings of over $500 compared to the AVA pre. I am extremely happy w/ the CJ sound & with the savings I might just be tempted to put it towards Frank's DAC. I really think I can't go wrong w/ either piece. Have you ever tried Frank's DAC?
Thanks

Even his DAC is updated to Ultra series. I have an Omegastar version of the DAC, several years now...it's real goooooood. But I also have SACD, HBC Tascam recorders players that won't benefit from it. for my older Philips changers it works real good. One of my Philips changers is also routed through the Tascam to DAC, I can manipulate the signal in all directions, almost. AVA stuff is always great. Just woulda' liked rack ears on teh latest pre amp, so eventually I could rack the stuff all together. I asked Frank he said it would involve a lot of design, wouldn't be worth it for teh small number I guess that would want it he said...I have a few more rebuilds out at AVA making some OmegaStar EX Hafler P500 1200W or more running mono. I also use AVA latest Ultra hybrid phase inverters (2) I think you should give teh latest and greatest Ultra Hybrid pre amp a whirl, it may just startle you into submission and give up on what you have. I have the EC version with phono, and remote
