Hi Roy,

Double blind wearing testing have proven beyond a reasonable doubt that when one is wearing a designer sweater, sports jacket, jeans, or any other item of clothing costing ten to twenty times as much as a no name knock-off one will experience all of the following pleasures and skills, none of which will be experienced when wearing the no name knock-off: a heightened sense of self, the ability to attract beautiful women, the ability to earn vast sums of money, the ability to win at baccarat and finally one will know which French wine to order with the roast duck.

The sad part for us lowly audiophiles is that, unlike the world of high fashion, the world of high end audio confers no such abilities upon ownership and thus we are subjected to constant ridicule by those outside our small little world.

I sometimes have second thoughts as I sit in my torn Costco jeans listening to my Linn turntable and the rest my system, comprised of equipment from manufacturers whom the average person has never heard of, but the music always wins out and I know that my sacrifice has not been in vain.

Years ago, I had to take a rather lengthy psychiatric evaluation test. The test was 3 or 4 hours in length and had several hundred questions. Anyway, one of the questions that was repeated over and over, with only insignificant wording changes was, "do you like wearing nice clothes?"

You would be surprised how many times and in how many different ways that question can be asked.
