Parts Connexion and Michael Percy Audio are where I find the best audiophile quality capacitors and other parts.
The Dynamicaps are unquestionably the best-sounding coupling caps at this time, but they are not cheap.
What are "audiophile" grade capacitors? Capactiors are liek any otehr electronic component. stabilty, temp ratings, % toleramces, voltage ratings, blah blah blah. What is the "audiophile" rating in any Allied or Newark, or DigiKey catalog? Like "audiophile" rated wall devices, wires, cord caps? NEMA has no such designation. There is a brand out there that labels their cord cap "audio grade"....hmmm, NEMA or NEC has no such category..nor does UL or ETL.....Which maker coined the term first "audio grade" for a wiring device? If I take some SO cord, put some Dymo labels on it, Audio Grade, certified, ya gonna pay how much more for it, just like capacitors. I'm looking for some "audio grade" switches, to go with teh "audio grade" wall outlets. How bout' some "audio grade" rocker/toggle switches for my amp and pre amp....cus' them audio electrons know wherer they is going, not into a coffee maker, that would need Folger Grade, from the mountain grade. some lava dust impregnated into the cord....
Is that i cannot use the phrase "It all sounds Greek to me" with you,Dup.You see, over here we speak Greek rotfl
DUP, for cryin' out loud, will you stop whining every time somebody with technical knowledge superior to yours makes a suggestion? If you have a question, just ask it. Not everything needs debunking -- sometimes price DOES get you closer to real. Hell, look at you -- you got suckered into paying 16 large for speakers that, in a space the size of yours, are ridiculous examples of overkill. Then you brag about how much money you save on VA electronics. Sheesh. Physician, heal thyself. You've used up a decade of whines. Try being constructive for a week. You might like it. Peace and love, Clifton.
Shhh. DUP thinks he means "leeks reek," not "speaks greek." And Casca is a soft drink. How's everything at the cradle of civilization? I just spent two drunken days at HE, doing as much wretched excess as I could cram into all my senses. Cheers, Clifton
Make no mistake,i like Dup.Life and this forum would be empty without him.
Clifton, you spent two days at HE drunk !?!?!?Shall i expect something like "did you see the five arm turntable?"
oh,btw, did you guys eventualy meet there?
Me too. I just wish he would say something positive once in a while about anyone's attempt to upgrade with other than VA, Rane, or Legacy. HE? Knee-walkin', arm-wavin', commode-huggin' drunk. Thank God there was no Retsina around. Buddha and Mike put me on the Heitz Cellars liquid diet. Somehow, I negotiated my way home on automatic pilot. Good thing LA cops are busy chasin' gangbangers, or I might be in Gitmo by now. Cheers, Clifton
I knew it...You guys are having one hell-of-a-time there!
Hello,
for capacitors, but also for tubes try:

I have not tried any of the name-brand audio capacitors (e.g. WonderCaps, etc.). The capacitors I used to replace OEM ones were purchased from surplus electronics stores in the Los Angeles-Orange-San Diego county areas. Those caps are polystyrene dielectric. Some larger values that I could not locate, I used "Mylar", bypassed with smaller polystyrenes. All this was based upon articles in the audio press. If I remember correctly, the authors were Jung and Marsh, in Audio Amateur(?). Perhaps someone else remembers the exact reference.
Yupper, over doing the drinking certainly improves your perception of quality sound. No wonder you can hear what wire sounds like, it's all a drunken bit of dilerium. No matter how high faluntin' snobby about audio parts and how this outlet sounds versus that outlet, it all comes down to base human debauchary? And like the slobs in big NUMBERD oversized shirts, let's go get hammered and drink too much, now ain't we loads of fun. Just think how you would be able to really hear that the wire has no sound, if your brain was sloshed with too much alcohol. Now i see the real issue. All these golden ears are just drunk, and ain't hearing anything, but imgainary PINK ELEPHANT sounds.
