I just got my first ever 45rpm record and i dont know how to change the speed on my record player from 33.5rpm to 45. Do i have to get a different belt or is there something different i have to do? Any help would be appreciated.

There are many ways. What record player do you have?

I honestly have no idea. It just says empire on the glass case. Its actually my dads and I just recently started using it. I opened it up and the thing the record spins on has the belt wrapped around it then its connected to the peg thats with the motor. Theres no bigger ring(that i see) to wrap the belt around further so it spins faster. Sorry for being so vague but i thought that there would be sort of a standard way of doing it no matter what player you have.

Hah! I love Empires. Typically, one changes speeds as you have described by moving the belt to a different diameter pulley on the motor shaft. If there are two steps, they are 33 and 45; if three, they are 33, 45, 78.
