Let me be the bad guy here. I understand the MP3 issue and I am not addressing that.

Why would one want to download this? The performers are unknown to me and I've been collecting classical music for decades. What is it about this recording that makes it worth the bother when there are dozens and dozens of performances of this piece, many by well-known pianists and many on really low-priced CDs?

If you don't tell me something about the performance and/or performers that, in any way, makes it unique, interesting or outstanding, I don't see why I should want it. Cheapness and availability are not sufficient.

Unfortunatelly I do not have the associated knowledge of performance and recordings that come with decades of classical music collection. therefore I cannot really make a case for why you, or anyone else with such knowledge would want to download this, aside from curiosity.

For myself, I am only beginning to enjoy classical music. I have primarily been using my college music library, local record shops and thrift stores for this persute. To this end, my taste is as undeveloped as my knowledge, and thus I have no qualms about trying unknown peformers. furthermore the "bother" associated with sampleing what is freely available online is close to nil for a child of the digital age such as myself.

To some lesser degree there is a point to be made about the use of lossless encoding formats for classical music. Classical music has historically taken a backseat to pop formats in the design of audio codecs, Mp3 for example, being tweaked to the tune of Suzan Vega's "Tom's Dinner". However such a discussion is probably better suited for the computer audio forum.

Perhaps my enthusiasm for unknown peformers is misplaced, and the nature of classical music does not lend itself to finding hidden gems in the way that contemporary music can. It was in this spirit, often echoed in the other musical forums, that I decided to share.

I did and I understand. OTOH, looking at it from the reader's point of view, it would be nice to see something that might encourage me to want to download it. (I may be an old fart but I can manage it pretty easily.) There's so much out there and a little subjective comment would make all the difference. Did you listen to it? Did you like it? No credentials required.
