Just reading this post made my ears hurt.

I know watts have become considerably less expensive these days but one has to wonder what a $0.10 watt sounds like!

1600 "true" watts will require more than $150 dollar investment into your stereo's electrical system alone. After the expense of wire, at least a one farad capacitor, and a power distrubution block of some sort, you'll need to investigate your car's alternator and battery, as 1600 watts will overload almost every vehicle's stcok equipment I know of.

What kind of subs, what kind of enclosure, and what kind of mid / tweeters do you have? I might be able to recommend something that would work well with them, but I doubt you'll get anywhere near the wattage you want, at the price range you're hoping for.

First off, if you get a good amp(s) you don't need 1600 watts. My front speakers have 150 watts each, my rears have 60 watts each and my sub has 300 watts and my system plays LOUD, although I rarely play it that loud.

The front and sub amps are Precision Power amps and the rear amp is an Alpine. Being as the rear speakers are for ambience only I don't need alot of power on them.

Front and rear speakers ar MB Quart separates and the sub is a 12" JL.

The only reason I have this much power on front and sub is because of insurance on a break and take.

The original system had 100W on the front and 150W on the sub. The Alpine amp wasn't taken. It was hidden under the rear seat (Jeep Cherokee).

So, if you had 100W on each of your four speakers and even 200 on your sub you'd only have 600W. And unless you plan on being deaf by time you are 30 you don't need even that much power, IF the amps and speaker are good ones.

I forgot the $150 limit. You can't get even a half decent 100 watt amp for $150, and it would only be two channel.

The 1 farad cap alone would cost over $100. I do have one, plus the wire, etc. My cars elec. system is stock and works fine.

I got the original system used for $900 through a friend. It was a steal.
