bibbear,
I WAS HOPING THAT SOMEONE WOULD RESPOND TO YOUR QUESTION REGARDING THE CAL LABS CL-20, AS I TOO HAVE THIS MACHINE.I BOUGHT IT USED FOR $500 2 YEARS AGO. THE UNIT IS IN ABSOLUTELY MINT CONDITION WITH LOW HOURS. I USE IT AS A CD PLAYER AND IT SOUNDS JUST FINE PLAYING REDBOOK CD'S ON MY KLIPSCHORNS. BUT, JUST LIKE YOU, I WOULD LOVE TO HAVE THE CODES FOR DVD AUDIO AND HAVE NEVER BEEN ABLE TO FIND THE SOLUTION. IF ANYONE HAS AN IDEA, WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE YOUR FEEDBACK
I used to have it but, with the sale of my CL-20, I've lost track of it. I suggest that you try asking on other audio forums since someone must have it.
Kal
KAL,
THANKS FOR THE REPLY. GUESS I'LL TRY ASKING ON OTHER FORUMS OR HOPE SOMEONE FROM THIS FORUM KNOWS AND WILL POST A REPLY.
MACMAN HERE AGAIN-STILL HOPING THAT SOMEONE WILL VIEW THIS POST AND KNOW THE KEY CODES NECESSARY TO UNLOCK THE DVD AUDIO ON THE CALIFORNIA AUDIO LABS CL-20 PLAYER-BOUGHT THIS GREAT PLAYER USED BUT AM UNABLE TO REALIZE IT'S FULL POTENTIAL BECAUSE I DON'T HAVE THESE CODES-IF ANYBODY KNOWS, PLEASE, PLEASE RESPOND-THANKS!
First, please turn off CAPS-LOCK. Second, I must apologize for misreading your original request. AFAIK, there's no way to "unlock the DVD Audio" since the CL-20 will not recognize the discs nor does it have an MLP-decoder necessary for DVD-A. Where did you hear that such an "unlock" existed?
BTW, I did find the code for "unlocking" the 24/96 output:

Kal,
thanks for responding-Sorry for the caps lock-Did you mean that you found the codes on audio asylum's website? I am unable to log on to their website. Would you be able to retrieve that info and forward it to me? Thanks in advance if you can!
??? I can access that link from any of the 4 computers I use. In any case, the information is NOT what you asked for. It is for activating the 24/96 digital output. Here's the quote:
"For those who have a California Audio Labs CL-20 CD/DVD player, you can easily enable the 24/96 digital outputs by performing the following... With the unit plugged in and "off", press and hold down the MENU button on the front panel then press the UP ARROW button on the front panel. The CL-20 will power up and the 24/96 digital output will be enabled. This state is remembered long term, so you should only have to do this once."
