Make sure you can listen to them on the music you like. Insure the woofer surronds are in good shape and/or can be repaired if the surrounds have dry-rotted. There is money to be saved in buying good, used equipment. It may get you into true highend land faster. I am no snob about such things. Enjoy.

I have them here to test drive and they do sound good. No dry rot either.
So does it make sense to get them for $500 instead of something new?

I would certainly listen to as many models in that price range as I could before I finally laid the money down. They still may be the ones you buy. Buyers remorse is awful. Enjoy.
