Jim, There is no way to upgrade the original to the CDP.2. Entirely new transport and software.

I had asked Walter about your issues. Now, what you might do is get in touch with Chris Johnson of the Partsconnexion in Canada and see what he might recommend for parts upgrade. Chris can do clock upgrades as well as analog output upgrades. It would never hurt to ask.
