Hi everybody!
I'm new here so I thought I'd just start out and describe how I make CDs off records. I play them through the phono board in my c-j pre into a Harmon Kardon CDR 30 onto a CDRW using an Audio Alchemy DLC as a level control. Then I re-record (in analog) onto another CDRW playing the first CDRW through the Audio Alchemy DTI Pro 32 and DDEv3. Then I run off as many copies as I want onto CDR (digitally) using the 1dB digital level boost on the CDR-30. These CDRs sound great in the car or on my Oppo DVD player in the den. They even sound pretty good on my stereo, but still not as good as the original album. (Of course!)

OK, I guess it's time for Stereophile to use one of the fine LP's they've engineered and make CD-R's from several of these reference turntables and let the rest of us listen!
That would be killer fun, and I bet it would generate great interest and repeat sales of the original music!
I'd be happy to pony up some dinero for a selection of CD-R's made from these beauties and listen to the differences!
Continuum vs. Clearaudio vs. Rockport...it would be a heavyweight extravaganza!
Seriously, good for revenue, interest level, and the art of istening!

I second this request. I understand the cost would have to include a license per sale to the recording owner to make the copies legal.
I asked Mickey when he has some time and gets his HD in the Alesis back up to play the K622 Lp and make a disc off the Continuum and compare it to the CD/SACD layers. He said he would. That would be a fair fight for sure. I have both and, as I have said before, the vinyl of K622 is so good that if that was all I had I would be happy.
The vinyl is all I have, and I'm very happy.
