Hi, Kloss. This will be interesting to see what people say.

I tend to "toy shop" and try an array of different speakers and driver styles.

In my basement, I keep an Apogee Studio Grand and Apogee Mini Grand system for playing with in different configurations. It's dedicated two channel with an independent system used for surround. I use Soundline/B&G for a center channel to keep it ribbony.

My computer system uses the computer's disc drive into a Marantz integrated driving a pair of Infinity Intermezzo 2.6's that I like.

Living room has Klipsch La Scalas to have horns to play with. My buddy Mike just refurbed an old pair of A/D/S 300's for me - the jury is still out, but they sit atop the La Scalas for now. That room has a couple Genesis subwoofers to fill out the bottom end.

Got four old AR 90's that can play insanely loud that are next on the refurb list. Then comes a repair job for a pair of Chario Academy 2's that had a woofer break during a mishap.

Maybe after that will be an old pair of Acoustat 2+2's or a pair of Mackie HRH 824's to see how they sound.

So, I'll admit to liking to go for variety and see how different speakers can be made to sound.

So far and I have posted this in a few forums.Seems folks are open to trying things out.But the audiophiles I have known for years tend to be horn guys ,Cones and domes types electrostatic guys etc. They upgrade but its mostly to something similar in design.Of late some have branched out mostly to Hieff designs. I have done this for many years but now keep dif. types of system arround and DIY what even design I feel like.I do think most play it safe and try something there comfortable with because the owned similar before ,nothing wrong at all with this. Thxs buddha for you post
