OK, I'll take a stab in the dark at it.

The component INPUTS may be set to OFF, but the component OUTPUT should be ON. Although you will not get any TV or DVD signal pass-thru till you turn ON the INPUTS, you should still be able to see the AVR's on screen display (OSD) on your TV. This is usually only "automatically presented" the FIRST time you power up the AVR. After that you must manually bring up the OSD usually by pressing the SETUP or similiar button on the remote. Make sure the AVR is in the TV/DBS mode and the TV is in the appropiate input mode and then press setup and you should get the AVR's OSD, where you can then scroll thru the items to assign the component inputs or turn them ON.

Another workaround would be to connect the display to the AVR via the s-video and see if you can get the on screen display of the AVR up and running on the display, so you can turn ON the component connections. Again, with the proper inputs selected on both the AVR and TV, select SETUP on the remote and you should get the AVR's OSD on the display.

Try changing channels on your TV. My bedroom set has Aux1, Aux2, 1,2,3 etc. I can't get any component video without using the channel selector to move down to Aux1 or Aux2.

Sounds too simple to be your problem, but if the previous post doesn't get you there you might as well try it.
