Parts Express has some low end solutions that are fairly inexpensive. If you're just trying to get a basic sound they might suffice. Just search for wireless speakers on partsexpress.com.

Sonos do whole house wireless audio
also, they are using Tripath amplifiers for power.
Only heard them at shows but the system works. Speakers are not anything more than a good table radio. I understand they are promising something better to be shown at CES.

Yes. Operationally, very sophisiticated but the audio hardware is still 'life-style.'
