Can't recommend brands or models. However,if your components accept "balanced" connection , this is what you should be looking at.

Balanced speakercable? Good luck!
I like Nordost, they can be instald in a very "stealthy" way if you like that. The sound is also nice, from Red dawn and upwards.

You should move the power amplifier only to the center position so that you can use short (8-10') speaker cables. Then run longer interconnects to the amplifier. You can use balanced or SE cables for this run but it is getting to the point where balanced may make a noticable improvement. It depends upon the gear used as some make better use than others of balanced connections. In either case, it will work better and be more affordable. I have used 32' of interconnect before when I had my front end components in another room. It actually makes for a nice aesthetic having only the amplifier and speakers in the listening room.

16 gauge lamp cord is fine for runs as long as 100 feet .18 gauge is fine for runs up to 50 feet .I would go with the 16 gauge .AS far as high price cables , save your money and buy some new recordings .

It seems that a lot of people recommend to keep speaker cables as short as possible.

Naim Audio, on the other hand, say that speaker cables should be at least 12ft long.

Who is most probably right?

Any decent 12 gauge speaker wire will do. Monster is the most common and it's oxygen free which means it's a bit more pure.
