Ion-ization

Amphion's Anssi Hyvönen was happy to demo his tiny Ions ($1350/pair). The diminutive two-ways sport a 1" titanium tweeter and a 4.5" midrange/woofer, and weigh an easy to lift 10.5 pounds. They sound pretty darn big, though. I enjoyed them in a system with a T+A 1535 surround sound receiver and T+A SADV 1245 R DVD player, finding them spacious and three-dimensional. Then HeadRoom's Tyll Hertsens walked into the room and asked, "How do they sound as desktop speakers?"

Having no desktop handy, we placed them about 3' apart on stands and knelt down so our heads were between them and our butts were in the air. It may have looked funny, but it sounded immense! The Ions make fabulous near-field monitors and, yes, I'm putting a pair on my desktop soon. Heh heh heh. Good call, Hertsens.

A damn fine writer, Wes (though not as good a poet as Donald Rumsfeld!).

Battery's picture

At the same time, the power cord also acts as a charger, similar to a cell phone charger - it powers up your laptop battery on an ongoing basis. Laptop power supply is somewhat adaptable, therefore, making laptops portable http://www.laptop-acadapter.com/dell/ - at least for a few hours at a time, that is. The newer models often have a battery that holds a charge for longer - five to seven hours, in some cases. Adding an additional laptop power supply - an external battery - can increase the time that you can spend away from an electric power source. Some people recommend removing your laptop battery when you're at home or in the office, so that your laptop power supply source bypasses the http://www.laptop-acadapter.com/hewlett-packard battery when possible. However, shopping around to find exactly what you need - especially if your needs are unusual - is also worth your while.
