New from mbl

To anyone who has committed my blogs to memory, or treated them with the same reverence as passages from the Bible, my love for mbl speakers and electronics will come as no surprise. Listens at CES 2010, RMAF 2009, and CES 2009 left me in awe. If only the newest mbl speakers on the market had been on active rather than static display, I expect I'd be waxing ecstatic once again.

Bill Parish, whose GTT Distribution has just taken over mbl distribution for the U.S., Canada, and Mexico, is now in the process of establishing a three-tiered dealer network for the company's products. Sharing a table with his fellow New Jerseyan, Joe Kubala of Kubala-Sosna cabling, Bill showed the new Model 126 ($12,500/pair, and pictured in white). A replacement for the 121, this baby's frequency response ranges from 44Hz to 30kHz. That means it descends 6Hz deeper than its predecessor. It also includes a stand, and costs $5000 less.

The larger Model 120 ($21,900) has dual 6.5" woofers, a cabinet of twice the volume, and extends from 35Hz up to 30kHz. If only it or one of its larger brethren extended to my living room. . .
